Love on Every Breath
Love on Every Breath: Tonglen Meditation for Transforming Pain into Joy by Lama Palden Drolma:
Impactful and Practical!
Love on Every Breath: Tonglen Meditation for Transforming Pain into Joy by Lama Palden Drolma is one of the best books I have read on the subject of alchemizing suffering into peace.
Tonglen Meditation is the first style of meditation I was ever introduced to, and in short: it changed my life.
By far, I find Tonglen to be one of the most powerful and pragmatic practices people can use to find peace and compassion in their own lives—and for those who love sociology or peaceful social activism, I could not recommend a better form of meditation to learn: to first transform your own suffering, and then project what you have learned to help heal a hurting world.
While I found my first few experiences of this form of meditation profound, it took this book to remind me of its power.
The author of this book has vast experience teaching this practice to others, and her writing delves into the specificities of Tonglen that I had never been exposed to in the brief overview I learned of so many years ago in college.
As with all forms of meditation, the tools taught in this book need put into practice to be effective, and I am excited to have access to the information in this book to enhance my understanding of it years later as a meditation teacher eager to sprinkle deeper teachings on kindness, love, and compassion into my classes and personal practice.
I highly recommend this book to meditation teachers and practitioners—to those who are secular, religious, or spiritual, and particularly those interested in Engaged Buddhism.
