Every Moment is an Opportunity

Every moment, no matter how unpleasant, is an opportunity to breathe.

My dog has this fabulous habit: the more rainy it gets, te longer she takes to do her business outside.

In the sunshine of spring and summer, she is efficient. On the other end of her leash often stood a very cold, damp, and pissed off person—me.

As irratation and impatient would inevitably arise, in sopping wet clothes, clenching my jaw and shoulders in response to the cold (or agitation) the frigid temperature…

Eventually I realized that though inconveinent, highly interruptive to my productive day, again and again we would go outside and my otherwise wonderful pup would annoy the hell out of me.

I realized I was frequently holding my breath. Quite literally, holding in toxicity.

Clinging, clenches, tense. Not connecting at all to the exhalation, but definitely fcusing on my irratation.

Breathing, this is annoying.

Breathing, I am wet, cold, and impatient.

Breathing, I am alive.

Breathing, I feel a little better.

Breathing, I slow down my frazzled and semi-furious thoughts.

Breathing, I am here.

Looking at the gorgeous trees, the immaculate shifting clouds. The sunshine on my face. The fresh air in my lungs. Focusing on what WAS right.
