Being In Tune with the Self

In middle school, I didn't make the volleyball team two years in a row. After swimming a 50 yard butterfly event at a swim meet, my grandfather joked that he thought I was drowning out there.

Have I always been in tune with my body? Let's just say: no. Absolutely not.

Though I always wanted to by fit and in great shape, I didn't arrive at a place of comfort in my body until my young twenties.

I initially came to yoga to learn more about meditation and to learn techniques to relieve anxiety.

Stumped with writing a very emotionally charged novel, I was looking for ways to be less attached with my thoughts, memories and emotions. I longed for ways to step back and observe without getting caught up in torrents of emotion.
