Tapping Into Joy
You find what you seek. Snowball effect of focus, like attracts like.
Ever suffer from the "eh's" "meh's" or "ugh's" of life? Days when the world feels gloomy or you feel like a total grump?
Put some pep in your step. Here's what gets me excited.
Alan Watts quote about not taking your life too seriously. Realizing that work is play. Lightening up. Seeing and living in the sometimes dysfunctional and depressing world we're in and choosing to be optimistic despite the atrocities and deceit we witness.
Teaching Philosophy
Fitness, Inspiration, Mission, Philosophy
One of my biggest missions in teaching is to have fun.
We all need to take care of ourselves and thus our bodies, and nobody stipulates that workouts have to feel like a demoralizing ass-kicking to dread.
We can choose to enjoy ourselves in the present moment.
I am first and foremost a yoga teacher, and approach all other branches of fitness from a perspective of self-love and self-care.
We are not doing any of this to force harsh change.
We are here because we love ourselves, and are showing up because we know that the healthier we are in our bodies, the healthier we will be in our minds—the stronger we will be for our children, parents, and community.
We can live rich lives and feel good in our bodies as long as possible.
We are learning to cultivate appreciation for all the many brilliant things our bodies and brains are capable of when well-cared for.
We need to be strong ourselves, need to yank on whatever bootstraps we can manifest and rise to the top of our own individual conquests.
You being your best self is only going to encourage those around you to rise up and be their best selves. The stronger and kinder we can ALL be for each other, the better.
We are doing this out of love and respect for ourselves and our communities.
Life can be chaotic at times, f—ing crazy and unbelievably cruel.
As a collective and as individuals, I believe it is useful to find ways to transform our aggression into a more productive state of mindfulness and peace.
In all classes, no matter the intensity, we will work to investigate the mind and its traps, how to develop willpower, and learn to be powerful and full of intent in the present moment.
Life can be intense, but so can we. We are a force, as thunder, as hurricanes, as vortexes of organic power.
Let us use this energy wisely.
ATTENTION GOES WHERE ENERGY FLOWS.
— PAUL WATERS
START WHERE YOU ARE. USE WHAT YOU HAVE. DO WHAT YOU CAN.
THIS IS THE REAL SECRET OF LIFE — TO BE COMPLETELY ENGAGED WITH WHAT YOU ARE DOING IN THE HERE AND NOW. AND INSTEAD OF CALLING IT WORK, REALIZE IT IS PLAY.
