Developing Better Body Awareness
But as many bookworms are well aware, we are often floating around in our thoughts, walking heads with no connection to the rest of our living, breathing bodies. (Perhaps becoming neurotic or anxious as a result.)
I had little to no body awareness as a student and writer, other than the fact that I was occasionally aware of my body, and didn’t like or appreciate it very much. I was often consumed in my racing thoughts and worries, constantly wondering how I would make my dream, my Dharma, come true.
My head was swirling with ideas of the stories I wanted to share, but I soon became full of self-doubt. I incessantly worried about being rejected at the one thing I had always wanted most: to be a writer and celebrated scholar who made a difference.
