My Philosophies as a Teacher

Have fun. You need to take care of your self and thus your body, and I believe you should be able to have fun while doing it. Nobody stipulated that workouts need to feel like a demoralizing ass-kicking to dread; we can choose to let loose and enjoy ourselves in the present moment as well as get an efficient and powerful workout in.

I am first and foremost a yoga teacher, and approach all other branches of fitness from a perspective of self-love and self-care.

We are not doing any of this to force harsh change. We are here because we love ourselves, and are showing up because we know that the healthier we are in our bodies, the healthier we will be in our minds, the stronger we will be for our children, parents, and community.

We can live rich lives and feel good in our bodies for as long as possible. We are learning to cultivate love for ourselves and appreciation for all the many brilliant things our bodies and brains are capable of when well-cared for.

We need to be strong ourselves, need to yank on whatever bootstraps we can manifest and rise to the top of our own individual conquests. You being your best self is only going to encourage those around you to rise up and be there best self. The stronger and kinder we can ALL be for each other, the better.

We are doing this out of love and respect for ourselves and others.

Life can be chaotic, at times, f--ing crazy and unbelievably cruel.

I veer on the emotional side of aggression and severity, austerity, at times. We have to find ways to transform this aggression into an equally strong energy, but one cooled to a wave of positivity and persistent peace.

In all classes, no matter the intensity, we will work to understand the mind and its traps, how to develop willpower and learn to be powerful and full of intent in the present moment.

Life can be intense, and so can we. We are a force, as thunder, as hurricanes, as vortexes of organic power.

Let us use this energy wisely.

WHERE OUR ATTENTION GOES, ENERGY FLOWS.
